Motivation

Think Positive.

I know many of you are suffering from a bit of a Super Bowl hangover, but don’t let Monday get the best of you.

Too often we beat ourselves up and think about the things that challenge us instead of focusing on the things that could go in our favor. If we change our energy we can change our outlook.

Positive reverberation. If you think positive, you allow good things to come to you.

As the greats sing say: Ac-Cent-Tchu-Ate the Positive. Eliminate the negative and latch on to the affirmative.

So get on with it; go have an amazing week.

Anybody tune in to the Super Bowl? Have a favorite commercial?

Dear February,

You’re short, but that is why I like you. In fact, I like you so much that I thought you would be the perfect month to give myself a 29-Day Challenge. Thanks for throwing in that extra day.

As a recently appointed Fitfluential Ambassador (whoop!) I needed to step it up a bit. Shake off those winter blues and get ready for spring. This month, it’s simple really, I want to give myself something that pushes me, but doesn’t push me over the edge.

February Fit Goals
Cut the carbs: I’m talking to you Mr Potato Head. Seeing as though quitting
cold turkey is plain cruel, I’ll work on only treating myself once this month.

Au Revior chocolate: In France, the Swiss Miss bus hit me head on. I could
have turned into Augustus Gloop. Everyone take your seats, I’m going to
attempt to only have sweets on Valentine’s Day. I think I just heard a few
screams. Valentine’s is going to be a real choco bender people, but I clearly
have enough stored up from my chocolate getaway to get me through.

Early bird gets the worm, then coffee: I am getting back into my early morning
workout routine full-on. The days I miss a good morning workout is like someone sucked out all my brains and energy.

There you have it. On the interweb, where all truths live, mwahaha. Short, not so sweet, goals.

Looking forward to hearing from you soon on how all this goes.

What’s your favorite Valentine’s sweet?

Our European ski holiday in Chamonix, France was spectacular. A picturesque ski village tucked in the Alps. The sheer grandeur of the mountains was unlike anything I have ever seen. I’ll share more deets later, but unfortunately it’s back to the grind.

Ah, that good burn. We’ve all had that tired feeling a day or so after a hard workout, where you are sore and proud of your pain all at the same time. After returning from skiing for three days, I’m shattered in the best way possible.

For this week, you can go hard or you can go home. Ain’t that right JLo? Maybe consolidate two workouts into one intense session. Focus on pushing yourself to your max, and hit the brink of being a little uncomfortable. Mind over matter. Get in one hard workout this week and push it to the limit. Realize the discomfort and drive on through.

Speaking of push — push ups or pull ups?

Rock your Monday. This week focus on growth. Try something new, do something different.

You’ve got what it takes to step out of your comfort zone and go for it. Experiment with a new routine or maybe try that food you’ve been thinking about. You have the confidence to do more than you think you’re capable of.

You don’t have to love it, and if you hate it you don’t have to worry about doing it again.

This week, set your sights and try.

What do you wish you had more time for today?

Today, let’s give props. We are often busy checking off our personal agendas, trying to keep up with everyone, and you can sometimes forget to slow down and check-in on others.

Write someone a postcard, send an email, make a phone call or give a shout out to a stranger that’s running by you today. Be a natural day brightener to someone today and let others be your inspiration.

Candice made my day last week with this little nugget of niceness, so here’s to making someone’s today.

Who are you giving a shout-out to today?

This Monday’s motivation: partner up.

Over the holiday break I had the pleasure of having my mom, Norak, as my running buddy. This 50+ year-old was a great match for me. Nice pace and we were knocking out 5 – 8 milers each time. I always thought I was the “solo runner” type but my mom really showed me it’s OK to partner up. In fact, as much as I claim to be an independent workout enthusiast, I realize that the hus and I workout almost every day together. I typically knock out a morning run by myself but pair up in the evening for the gym. My favorite weekend “workout” is when we load up the car and head off for a hike. Sometimes having someone to talk to or hold you accountable makes working out go by incredibly fast and easy.

This week I challenge you to find a workout partner. It could be going to a class with a pal or simply going on a short walk. I think you may like the addition to your routine.

And how about some inspiration to get outdoors, brought to you by Dr Indiana Jones (my most favorite little partner).

If you had to pick a celebrity to “buddy up” with on workouts, who would it be and why? You know, Ryan Gosling has been working out a lot lately, mmmm.

It seems y’all are ready to go and get this week started off right! If you were still sluggish on Monday, cut yourself some slack and start fresh today.

Show of hands if you’re on Pinterest. I am guessing those that are on Pinterest let out an oooh or an ahhh. I have been a member of the new addicting social media site for a few weeks. Pinterest is a site to share common interests:

Pinterest lets you organize and share all the beautiful things you find on the web. People use pinboards to plan their weddings, decorate their homes, and organize their favorite recipes.

I am sure some folks are rolling their eyes, but Pinterest is an amazing place to find recipes, inspirational quotes and other cute bits and bobs. I have found the best holiday cookies to whip up and even ways to wear some clothes that I haven’t been in love with as of late. Anytime I’m on my way home from a long day, I pull up motivational or running boards and I immediately feel like a 3rd rate Olympic athlete.

As your own CEO, you can use Pinterest to reflect your individualized style.

Are you on Pinterest? What are your favorite bits of the site? You can follow me on Pinterest too!
